Using Ultrasurf with a bank account? Is this secure…

Should I use Ultrasurf with my bank account? This is the big question among several users whether Ultrasurf can be used with the most secure bank accounts or for money transfer methods? And the answer may be both but with BIGGGGGGGGG NO and little bit yes.

But before anyone reach any conclusion first let we discuss how it works? Recently I came several articles comparing Ultrasurf with secret trojans that can be used to penetrate deep into the domains if you use it log in financial institutions, government and energy websites, education, etc. by accessing your authentication / session using your own computer. (You can watch this video shared on the web Ultrasurf_Audit)

In the video there were a lot of programs also running other than the only Ultrasurf like AVG antivirus, spybot search and destroy and many others…. thus denying the possibility to track which program is accessing which server. Thus making his overall effort suspicious as there can be many more thing going on the wrong directions.

Now think why Ultrasurf was made for? It was designed to give you freedom to access the certain informative websites if banned / blocked by your ISP provider / Institution / Working area administration or by the government of any country… Why would anyone use it to their Bank account?

Being a proxy software it serves as a “man in the middle” — that’s how a proxy works, pretty much the dictionary definition. It’s like saying boats get wet when you use them. In the above video it was said, it turns off the SSL certificate “though I assume it is necessary” but being a proxy it has to do so because it is proxying the web traffic over https to some other exit node; If cert checking was enabled, then whenever you tried to log into your bank, your browser would throw an error message.

As I have already mentioned, ultrasurf is not designed to be used for online banking; It’s supposed to be used for web surfing in countries where surfing some sites may get you into trouble, or where one or more sites are blocked to get around those impediments. So, maybe the program is able to pass data through itself. Under normal circumstances, using the program the way it was designed to be used, you wouldn’t be logging into a bank anyway.

The use of Ultrasurf has already spanned a lot over these years and if it was so said in the video then why millions of users are appreciating it and database of its users rapidly increasing….

  1. Proxy Software on June 12th, 2010 at 5:48 pm

I have found proxy software’s to be extremely helpful in keeping me safe on the internet. One thing that I discovered while I was searching for a proxy, was that finding a trustworthy company behind the proxy, was the most important step. Everything you do on the internet is sent through the company’s server. So, choosing whether or not to do online banking with a proxy, all depends on how reliable the company is.
